Flashback’s

Today we are going to research about how to do a flash back. Just because I want my script to have a flashback so the story can make more sense and be easier to do me and my team are going to create a flashback.

This here describes how I can or need to do the flashback. What it’s telling me is that in the starting and the ending of the flashback, I need to use “begin flashback” and “end flashback” all in caps, and after that carry on with how I usually do my scripts, which I usually forget to do and that is the “INT. OLD APARTMENT- NIGHT” so that the director knows where that scene is going to be located.

To the right is an example and explanation of a quick flashback. For my movie I want to use a long flashback. The flashback that is to the right is a very short one like when something happens and the person ends up seeing it again making the person remember what happened in a flashing memory.

This seems likes it’s just a guide to help me understand how I should do the flashbacks. It’s telling me to be consistent, I don’t think I’ll really need that since this is only a 2 minute film, it’s also telling me how I should chose the formatting on how to use the flashbacks, for my movie my flashback might be something that triggers the character and it can show their motivation on why they are the way they are, or the character can show their life style now and then have a flashback on how they use to act before.

Here is a better more accurate example of how it should look.

All of this research is going to be very helpful in the matter of writing for the short film. The way everything is being explained makes me relax and makes me think all this writing won’t be entirely stressing. This part even seems pretty easy, only because i’m just adding a couple of words and then it’s just like writing the normal script. So what I/ we have learned in this blog today is how do a a flashback when writing the script, can’t wait to see how our movie turns our, and can’t wait for you to see either.

Writers writing

I’m not going to lie me, and my team are just now starting the script, and it’s really stressful because the format keeps messing up and it’s really frustrating, I’m trying my hardest to keep my composure with this scriptwriting but it’s really stressing me out.
So far this is the title, the mini description, and who it’s written by. This was possibly one of the easiest things I’ve done so far during the writing.

Next step of the writing is just the list of characters and a small description of the. Another easy part of this writing, but as you can see it messed up and did not go along the lines it’s supposed to, the word supportive is supposed to be under the letter “A” and it’s not, that is where me stressing comes in, and I have to fix it by tomorrow. So far I and definitely not done with this part of the writing but this is what we have for the most part.
Here is where the film takes place so the setting of the screenplay. To let the people/person reading the script know where the whole film will take place like we have the year, timing, and the city state.

So far this is all I have for the script, what makes it even more stressing is that the script writing is all due next Friday and this is basically all I have, and my group, they’re not a bad group but I like things being done on my time and everyone else has their own schedules so we have to find some way to all meat together at least in school so we can get this all under control.  As you can see, I've been using all the same things as the things I've researched in the last couple of blogs.

Writers Research

From what I’ve been observing, most scripts Iv’e come across all have a a specific font, the font looks quite boxy looking, this font is called 12-point Courier. Coming across this makes me understand when i’m writing my script I should use this font to make it look more like a movie script than a high school script.

The image to the right is called the three-act-rule. This rule kind of looks like a plot. With a rising action and climax etc. Since we are only doing a 2 minute film, me and my group needs to discuss what part of the movie we will be doing, like the introduction, or the climax or what. The three-act-rule basically is just a plot but set up in a more complex form because it’s a film production and not like if you’re writing and finding answers in you language arts class.

Something that can help me as well as improving my writing for this mini film is a screen writing software. A screen writing software can help me use the proper format, and that is a relief because yes, I have done my research on the formatting, yes I understand most of how to do it, it looks pretty easy but whole time it’s most likely not. I’ll also need to start planning so I know what to write but I already know I will have plenty and many errors but we can always fix the errors, and mistakes is just proof your trying and mistakes help you learn.

Here is a part of the scripting from deadpool that I’ve found, if you can read it clearly, the script has a description of what the actor must do. Which makes me understand I need to do the same thing. As for when i’m making our script I need to add a description for what the actor needs to do and the items the actor must use and what not. In other scripts I’ve also looked upon, they have a description of what the character looks like so I would need to do the same and see what do Christians usually look like.

All of these are a helpful way I can adapt to writing the script, they are all going to be a big help during writing time. I’m ready to start this writing process though, but I have no idea when me and my group are going to start. I feel as we will start writing today so we can start the process because I’ve heard many other people whose started filming already and I am in shocked makes me think me and my group are very behind. So all I’ve researched today was the three-rule act, screen writing software, and the description of the dialog and all of these can help me improve my writing skills and be more efficient.

Post 5 /research

In class on Wednesday, and the team participated in a class activity where we were either listening to a scene from a movie without looking and trying to hear all the sounds to see how certain sounds can trick us, or we watched a scene from a movie while looking but, there was no sound, so we had to think of all the sounds that the scene could have

This helped us adapt and understand how different sounds can trick our mind, or different actions of a person can also trick out mind. For example in one of the movies we put the pressing sound was a keyboard whole time it was a elevator, but when we listened a second time I came to the conclusion that the clicking sound was actually a elevator because I had to take a closer listen on all the sounds. Or for one that we had to watch where we said there was no music because it looked informal, but there was music. For the most part we did a really good job on observing the sounds or watching the actions of the people.

For the ones we had to watch can all lead up to mise-en-scene because for watching you can see the different styles and emotions plus their actions and all this can set the mood or the tone of the movie. For the sounds, as i’m the sound we misheard that shows we can use other sounds to create one sound which is so amazingly cool.

Researching Again…

For now on this researching journey I have now came to terms with my researching and discovered I need to focus on establishing the theme. I also have to make a way on cutting clips and making the writing shape out as if it were a book, so the director and everyone else can understand the characters and how the characters look shaping out the writing into a real life. Now in this research blog if needed I will be using reference on the movie “War Room” just like the last movie I researched they are similarly related to the movie production me and my team are working on.

Since this movie is relates our movie it will be an amazing factor to research on so I can find a clue about how to do similar to make our production as good as theirs. For writing my movie I understand that I will also need to focus on creating the message, so the people watching can understand the theme on our production. In “War Room”  they used metaphors to create their theme , they used repetition to sound important and give off a suspense, this indicates that for my script I can use repetition to sound more serious to give off more of a dramatic vibe for the audience. The movie “War Room” also had some prayers that were said, since they are a Christian movie they will have some prayers being said, this indicates I can use at lease one or more prayers to sound more like the young girl is turning to Christ and she knows her religion well.
The image provided it shows where I got all of this information from on the different ways I can use different strategies to create the meaning of the movie production. These examples are all from the movie “War Room”.
The Forge movie created theme by forgiveness, so in my movie I can create a scene where the character is asking God for forgiveness and remembering all the bad things they’ve done in the past so they can ask for forgiveness of them doing their wrong. I can also create a scene of the girl giving a backstory on her life and make the movie about her past and then make the rest about her process of turning to Christ. Both of these movies have a metaphor connecting to the title of the movie, so in my movie I can also create a metaphor that can connect to our movie.

This entire blog was just me researching and finding ways I can make my movie give off the theme it is supposed to give off and finding ways to make the production more dramatic. I will need to do another blog on a movie that is similar to these two but the next one I do I will need to do on comedy. Now that I have more understanding on how I can make my script better, I feel more prepared and more capable on how I can do the script. Well that’s all for today.

Discussion Of Movie

Information On The Team/ Movie

For what I am going to show you now is what me and my working team did and how we discussed the movie and what it’s about.

In the imagine provided, you can see what all my teammates are going to be working on for our production. I am the writer of our production. You also can see the movie name and the description of the movie, just in case you can’t see clear enough the movie is about a young troubled girl turning her life to christ for the better of her mental state. This how we got out movie name because when you give your life to Christ your spirit and soul rises up and rise so our production is “The Rise”.
The next image you are now viewing is what genre we are doing which is comedy and drama. The drama indicates her crying and her realization on the process of her change, the comedy is because we can add something that can entertain our audience so we can have a bigger audience, the bigger the audience the better the production. The image also shows our main action scene which is outside while she’s walking in the park, then she has a moment of realization to change her life around.
This image, the third image you are looking over, is a summary of the locations we are using and the equipment we will be using. Beside the location is why we will be going to these locations, indicating waht is happening at the locations for the reason of the location.
The last image, the post-production plan. This image is informing you on who the editor is and what editing software the editor is using. It also give the date of the deadline for when we shall submit our production and when everything shall be done.

The Beginning

 My Research

The first part of this entire movie production is the researching and discussing. So now I will be informing you and showing you my research on our movie.
A movie I/ we chose to research and look on is “The Forge” just because our movie is going to be similar to that movie.
The Forge movie is also a Dramatic genre, so is our movies, so I will be focusing on how they write their movie so I can get a better understanding on how mine should look. The Forge is about a young man who didn’t have any idea or care about his future who then turns to Christ. Our movie is very similar.
Before looking at this script I’m going to do research on how a script should look.
According to the search I’ve done this is how a script should look ⬇️⬇️⬇️

From what I see I know I would need to put “Ext.” and “Int.” for interior and exterior, indicating outside and inside. While writing my script I will also need a description on how the person looks. I will also need a scene heading and the scene number, so that the director and the actors know what scene number we’re on. The image for my research also shows I will need a transition, so the editor and director knows when to transition from the scene.

That is all my research for today, I am ready to start preparing and typing the script so we can finish our project/production and so we can relax and not have that much work. This is all the research I’ve done so I can get a better understanding of the role I will be taking as a writer, and the steps I need to take as the writer.

Introduction Post

 Hello!

My name is Meziah White

Having this class has really showed me a different perspective on certain things and taught me many things I've never heard of or never even knew about. I know this class Isn't going to be as easy as it seems but I will be trying my hardest to maintain a good grade and keep up with everything. Me and my group have all been brain storming what we want to put together for our movie, what genre, what the movies going to be about, who's going to be what, etc. It's not so easy working with a group of people who can't make up their minds and decide or having to do multiple things at once. All I know is I'm ready to get started on the project and be finished. I'm ready to explore all the things of which ever job I'm going to do inn this class/ my group. Hoping it wont be as hard as I'm thinking It'll be, but I know if I'm struggling with something, I can ask my group to help me and we can all work through each others struggles. I know many people will be doing horror, or has done horror because it's the easiest to do of almost all movie/tv genres. I do know that I will be the writer of the group now, and i’m quite scared for this role because I feel this and being the editor are the hardest things to be in the group and needs a long time and a lot of work. But this will train me to be a better writer in the future and help me become better with my words, it can also help me learn new and bigger words.

I’m just ready for us to be over with the project so we can relax and chill. Especially because I know my role is going to take a lot of work, a lot of deleting, a lot of compensation etc. All though I do know that we can watch movies and eat in the class, that makes me fill a little better because when you eat they say you gain more brain power and I like to snack on things and eat. I’m not so sure if we’re going to be able to watch movies while we’re working on the project though, I kind of hope we can, just in case I get stressed trying to find something to put in the writing.
